Does your favorite restaurant play music?

Restaurants with loud music, where you can barely hear anyone talk, are making you overeat. Because you can’t hear yourself chew. Researchers from Brigham Young University had groups of people munch on snacks. And those that wore headphones, with music blasting, ate more than those eating in silence. In another experiment, the people told to imagine chewing noises ate less, too. The researchers say actually listening to yourself chew makes you more mindful of how much you’re eating. So, if you want to eat less, eat somewhere quiet.
